yeah its all the Premier’s dick riding fanboys who post and repost this. if Guru hadnt liked Premiers beats, hed probably be bull riding in Texas or something and not the beloved producer who keeps making the same beat for over 10+ years (and nobody even notices its the same formula)
Ha, nice animation. Props.
His quote has been misinterpreted. When Guru says he is GangStarr that doesn’t mean he thinks Primo isn’t. It means he embodies its spirit.
hater in da house!
Ha…everybody knows Guru was the weakest link in gangstar…if primo would have had a truly dope rapper to compliment them tracks, ala rakim it would be a wrap!
Love the artwork. The AKAI logo is a nice touch.
you must be out your god damn mind to say somethin like that. if it wasn’t for Premo’s tracks, Guru would be working at Kennedy Fried Chicken.
:::SIGH:: ……..Tribe, EPMD, Gang Starr . . . . . just please don’t tell me De La is gonna be on some punk bullshit next
and if it wasn’t for Preemo, Guru would still be in Boston spitting slow monotone ass rhymes probably trying to get a deal through ray benzino and Ed O.G. And guess what, ALL major producers have a “formula” you can always hear it. and even in saying that, if u think all preemo’s beats sound the same u really need to consider drinking bleach. btw wtf is guru doing these days?

Yo people!!! PUT THE GUNS DOWN! Arguing over which member of Gang Starr was more important/talented is like arguing ass vs. t*ts… THEY’RE BOTH ILLLLL… Seriously Preemo is one of the best producers of all time and Guru’s flow is one of the most memorable in hip-hop. The fact of the matter is that it wouldn’t have been Gang Starr without either of them, it might’ve been something else dope, but it wouldn’t be Gang Starr. The two of them had musical synergy, for real, they made each other better… Guru has got to be a sure shot, Preemo has got to be a sure shot, Gang Starr has got to be a sure shot…
PERIOD.
you know of a real retrospective of hip hop a die hard fan that doesnt live a day without music all i gotta say is PRRREEMMMMOOO…come on now…they say tough times dont last, tough people do..so we all know premier is still carrying the torch for the underground through the darkest of alleys and through the sugar coated hip hop yall cnsider…but guru is dope..dont get me wrong..wish they were together…but i can live without him..i cant live without nas, common, jay z…hmmmm really now? who have all of those people done multiple collabs with? nuff said b..
maybe Guru aint down with preemo anymore cause preem did a lot of big hits for people and never one put Guru on those projects. I think that cartooon is backwards. preemo left Guru behind to starve while he went to do records for bigger people like cristina aguilera.. Imagine if guru was on that biggie kick in the door track. THAT WOULDVE BEEN SOME REAL BK SHIT HOMIE!!!!
As a Gangstarr fan, it kinda bothers me that there’s a possiablity the two won’t drop an LP ever again. What also bothers me is what Solar said about Guru ‘ not saying anything when somebody had a #1 pop record ‘. As for the first comment, Timberland recycles beats and shows you during the song as a ‘ remember this ‘ moment and like it did before it STILL went #1. I picked up Street Scriptures vol.7, and was very unhappy I spent that money. It was like on some tracks Solar tried to be like Premier and it just wasn’t happening…
I’m happy both got their labels up and running, and can only hope somewhere down the line the two could merge (7 Grand/Yearround has a nice little ring to it) lol.
In my view, I think it’s very hard for a producer to be noticed let alone be successful in his career without the lead artist who is for 90% of the time the vocalist. Primo is definitely a talented artist, but I we we should celebrate him without having to take anything from Guru. I mean we are Gangstarr Fans because Guru was able to write gangstarr verses for us. at least he continues to do it for me. I don’t even know where primo is these days but I don’t think that will ever be a relevant issue for him, because basically
producers work behind the panorama, they don’t need the spot light.
Personally, I was never the biggest Guru fan although you can’t deny that Gang Starr made some classic tunes. It’s open to debate as to whether it’s a good thing for a producer to have a recognised sound or style but you can’t front on tunes like Boom! or Rock Stars. I don’t think that Guru’s inclusion on these songs would have improved them in any way whatsoever. Given the choice I’d definitely choose Primo over Gifted Unlimited any day of the week.
This goes out to HATE STACKS for posting that comment. Guru was a hip hop legend. Who the fuck u think u are talking about Guru being the weakest link in Gangstarr you mutherfucking hater. You need your ass whoop for that shit. Guru lost his life to cancer but gave his life to hip hop and his family. There would be no Premier w/o Guru and there would be no Guru without Premier. Guru was one the dopest MC’s of all time. I dare anybody to challenge me otherwise. Guru and Premier had a chemistry in Hip hop that was second to none you mutherfucking IDIOT. IT OBVIOUS THAT YOUR BITCH HATING ASS DON’T KNOW SHIT ABOUT TRUE HIP HOP. NOW DO ME A FAVOR AND GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU DUMB ASS BITCH.
Guru was able to tell a story that us as african americans could relate to. You don’t have a clue about true Hip Hop music. Hate Stacks
