*Partial proceeds will go to G.A.M.E’s South Bronx Green Market
The Grassroots Artists MovEment (G.A.ME) is launching a pilot project
this fall under their youth organizing component R.E.B.E.L to increase
healthy foods distribution in the Bronx and create economic development
for young people. The project has been named G.A.ME’s South Bronx
Greenmarket (GSBG) due to its location and affiliation with NYC’s
Greenmarket.

Selected youth participants (14-20 years of age) will have the
opportunity to create income, develop business skills, work with
farmers and distributors, and help educate their community on healthy
eating. The young participants will receive fruits and vegetables from
farmers which are coordinated by the Greenmarket, youth will promote
the idea in their neighborhoods and then sell the products through
their market. The participating youth will help decide on a lawful and
equitable distribution of profits among themselves. All profits made
through sales will go directly to youth participating in the GSBG.

G.A.ME’s South Bronx Greenmarket consists of youth conducting business
on Saturdays and learning civics and leadership skills on Tuesdays at
the Urban Assembly Academy for History & Citizenship for Young Men
(UAAHC) through R.E.B.E.L organizers. September will mark R.E.B.E.L’s
(Rallying, Educating & Building Effective Leadership) second year at
UAAHC in the Bronx. Using Hip-Hop and grassroots organizing techniques,
R.E.B.E.L works to prevent youth incarceration and develop youth
leadership in NYC public schools, the courts, and in poor neighborhoods
throughout the Bronx.
