Hot Chillin’ proudly presents the Tribute to Scratch EP [HC002]! After many (acetate and cassette) spins by legendary DJ’s Marley Marl, Pete Rock, Kev-e-Kev, Clark Kent, Kid Capri and Tim Westwood during the late 80s, this record finally sees an official release by the Hot Chillin’ imprint. Cool V’s Tribute to Scratch pt. 1, also known as the original mix, was introduced to the public in 1988 on Biz Markie’s debut LP ‘Goin Off’. However, little did people know that Marley, Biz, and Cool V recorded multiple versions of this classic record. These versions include the infamous Jackson Five mix, an alternative Bob James mix, and an unheard Marvin Gaye mix. Many tape recordings have been floating around, many rumors have been spread, and many people have been craving for crisp quality versions of these unreleased classics…. Long awaited, and long overdue, we are proud to present the official, original, and authentic recordings of the alternative ‘Tribute to Scratch’ tracks!
