A few weeks ago @g___ suggested that someone should write about the emergence of 103.9 & the changing landscape for urban radio. Here’s a clip of Frankie Crocker (after his second vacation from 107.5) explaining his interest in having a diverse playlist – blues, jazz, reggae, salsa, r&b, rock, gospel – and sounding passionate about providing his input when it comes to radio programming. While it cuts off mid-topic, sounds like he had the right idea though. Long live Frankie Crocker
Frankie Crocker coined the phrase “urban contemporary”
