Although it might take more than this to convince Tom Breihan, indie hip-hop producer Blockhead comes out in defense of the much shitted-upon Lana Del Rey. For what it’s worth I’ve been listening to her songs past few weeks and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them. So has my wife. Which I guess is why we were so disappointed when we saw her bomb on SNL. And it’s not like it was a “you wronged us!” disappointment, it was more like a “why is she doing that?” confused disappointment. So it’s nice to learn her aesthetic and inclinations predated her hipsterrunoff fame. Imagine if we focused our criticality on live performances and concocted images in hip-hop, where would we be? Oh wait.
