Penitentiary was the most succesful independent movie of 1980, Grossing $13,000,000. How’d you deal with the succes?

After Penitentiary, I bought a brand new Rolls and I had to beat women off with a stick. But I was using a Popsicle stick, ya dig? I wasn’t beating too hard.

During them days cocaine was prevalent. You go to a producers house and instead of a little bowl of candy on the coffee table he’d have a little bowl of cocaine. This was ’79 – ’8o, ya dig what i’m sayin’? I went over to my friends to buy an eighth and they was at the table smoking something. I asked what it was and they said freebase. then they showed me, they took a piece of the eighth, added baking soda and water, heated it up and at the bottom there was some oil. That oil was pure cocaine, and if you run cold water over it and keep turning you get a rock. This is before it became an epidemic, before crack heads and stuff.
