Trying to figure out why I’m not all in on these dudes. I appreciate their perspective, as they employ a certain meta-self-awareness. In other words, they often times seem to be rapping about rap and/or their experience in the world that rap creates on-/offline. Maybe it’s that self-reflective tone, something I have trouble with myself? The seriousness of their content is apparent even though it comes packaged in self-deprecation and allusions to a laid back lifestyle. Their videos are clever and visually stimulating, their beats got funk and they seem like down to earth heads, so it strikes me as odd that I’m not getting a lot of replay out of their drops. All that being said, I hope they continue doing their thing as I do plan on keeping them in mind. Peace to the self-aware-of-self and ethnically unafraid.
