Bronx, NY – April 1st 2010 – The Universal Zulu Nation, with assistance from international watch dog Amnesty International, has announced the successful formation of a new not-for-profit organization whose stated goal will be to “serve as an institutional clearinghouse for independent artists and consumers of hip-hop music and culture”. The organization, which has yet to decide on a formal name, will be domiciled in the state of New York with a home office in Harlem and satellite offices in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Tokyo and Havana. During the press conference Afrika Bambaataa was quoted as saying “Greetings children of Earth. I, Afrika Bambaataa, with the new millennium in mind, have worked long and hard to bring forth a renewed faith in factology”.

The organization will work together with lawyers from Amnesty International to develop a sound rating system for labels, publications and all other organizations who seek to prove their independence from corporate interests and to prove their historical knowledge and breadth of experience with respect to performance arts. Fans and other stakeholders will now be able to know, with a high degree of certainty, whether or not that lyric about cheeseburgers and fries was indeed a secret product placement. Advertising of any form in all types of media will need to be disclosed. Including, but not limited to, musical recordings, video recordings, personal consumption habits and tattoos.
