Every time a new album leaks online, songs begin to be distributed without permission from the artist and/or label. Because most websites do not disclose the source of their content, readers and potential consumers download these tracks but do not fully understand (or care) if they are supporting the artists’ sales or if they are being fed illegal content. In an effort to increase the transparency in this commonplace but no less significant transaction we embark on a new category. “Leaked” will point to the tools (not the content) that are used by distributers and consumers alike.
Consumers, distributers and most importantly artists: do with it what you will, and hopefully you know what you are doing.
