Another tape rip from July 1996, recorded from Hot 97 and Angie Martinez’s 6 – 10pm show featuring freestyles by Smoothe Da Hustler, Trigga, 12 O’Clock (Brooklyn Zu, Wu-Tang), and Foxy Brown, who were all on the Nutty Professor soundtrack. Trigga rips it and Angie could probably take some credit for Trigga getting signed to Def Jam at the time since I remember Angie Martinez shouting him out as one of the better unsigned rappers out a few times. On some mid 90s pause tape goodness, I also recorded a quick Jay-Z freestyle over De La’s “The Bizness” right after this from that same week (or what it the same day? I can’t remember) when he came up to the station for the first time, I can remember, promoting the “Reasonable Doubt” album. I was going to break this up into two but I thought some people might enjoy this is as is, because who doesn’t like a good pause mix tape?
