Q.E.P.D.
i’ll say this, hip hop has always took responsibility for itself, even back in the days of hammer (who was doin real good) i mean, this ngh had a saturday morning cartoon..payin his folks, and helping the bay area neighborhoods, but the hip hop community wouldnt tolerate the commercialization / exploitation that came along with his success. he inadvertently had allowed an exclusive culture that was particular to the “disenfranchised” to be absorbed and accepted back into the very system that caused the quality of life for so many to be second rate. they hollared “SELL OUT!!” and it was heard.his career was over and he was relegated to c-list celebrity reality shows.
nowadays,we have words designed to protect the excuse of the emcee with a grotesque level of skills in exchange for money, the word “hater”..if you call it how you see it,then you are a hater.seems more likely the one is so strongly opposed to criticism is the one who “hates” hearing it,nevertheless…some where along the way we were lead to believe that anything is acceptable as long as it is attached to money, given to the pursuit of money,or pointing out one’s jealousy (to determine our own worth as people) of our money…make no mistake.we do not set out to sell out most of the time since we have no control over what is viable but only strive to fulfill needs…its the corporations that select what they believe best represents us as a people and as a culture in this country…peace.
So Tru!I love Ice T,Nwa,Gangstarr,Snoop,Pac,Dr.Dre and many many others! But i think that new rappers make hip hop look bad, not every one,but the most of this new wanna beez ,kill the hip hop culture like no other!Come on now, hip hop is not sucha old music amd let the culture grow!Soujah boy is peace of shit and like my man Mc Shawn would say Kill da kill dat noise!!!!Old School 4 ever!
