Black upper class people should be responsible for giving back, time, money and opportunity to the less fortunate people of their race. Less fortunate blacks should also take care of themselves and look to break the cycle of laziness, apathy, self pity and self doubt by working harder, being more accountable and responsible for their actions and destiny. There has to be a dual approach to improving the plight of blacks and erasing the wage, home ownership and education gaps in America. I agree with Nelson regarding blacks being responsible for their own advancement, but I know that opportunities are not always readily available without someone other than God offering some favor to the masses.

Black upper class individuals should provide that favor from the goodness of their hearts and the depths of their pocketbooks.
