Charles Patton, referred to as business partner and mentor of Lupe Fiasco, was sentenced to 44 years in Cook County for possession of 6 kilos of heroine. Early on there was some concern as to the extent of Lupe’s involvement in the drug situation (see this post by Bol for background). Turns out that when Lupe was recorded referring to “splitting up ‘whole yellow’ and ‘whole red’ ones”, he was talking about recording and mixing tracks! Um, I guess the meaning of slang is difficult to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt? Anyway, I just find it interesting how Lupe Fiasco was able to create this clean rapper image and meanwhile his right hand man is this dude. I’m not knocking it mind you. It’s just intersting. Link
