A History of DJ Krush DVD

Might pick up this new 3-disc DVD box set about DJ Krush. Meiso is one of my favorite albums. Link

A long time ago in the Land of the Rising Sun far, far away, DJ Krush put Japan on the global hip hop map… Born and raised in Tokyo, it is said that the reformed gang member was inspired one day after seeing the movie “Wild Style” back in the early 80’s. Despite criticism from his peers he set out to be a DJ and would later become a pioneer in both turntablism and producing, combining the unique sounds of Japanese culture with traditional elements of hip hop. Having formed the Krush Posse and later Kemuri Productions (with DJ’s Yas, Kensei, Hide and Hazu) he released his first album “Krush” in 1994, which got heads turning worldwide, simultaneously placing his music in a category ahead of it’s time. In this 3 disc dvd set, you get documentaries on both the makings of “Meiso” and “Milight” with studio recording session footage with Mos Def, CL Smooth, Shawn J. Period and of course Kemuri Productions, as well as live DJ sets, perfomances, tour footage, release party footage, highlights from his later albums, and on Disc 3 the complete music video collection. This is truly one for the fans.
