XXL re-reports the Daily News’ article about how Rock music beats rap genre in album and digital sales due to back-catalogue popularity”. I would suggest making sure to read the latter in its entirety, we wouldn’t want you to go around repeating the thesaurus-jumbled, mistyped – “According to SoundScan, 103 million rock discs were purchased last year, while only 27 rap LPs were sold.” – instead of – “A closer look at SoundScan/Nielsen figures shows that…Rock enjoyed sales of over 103 million albums last year, making it the peak genre…By contrast, rap had less than one-sixth of rock’s combined strength, with just over 27 million CDs sold in the last year.” Is there a difference between disc, album and LP? Is LP more generally used to refer to vinyl full length albums? Is it obvious the “million” is missing from the second figure? Is this of any consequence to you or I? Do I use open-ended questions as a way to curb expressing my intial reaction to things? Do I spend too much time reading about gotdamn rap music?!
