I’ve come across Brazilian music here and there over the years. The obvious channels, sampling and cross over hits, but also through visits to Bolivia, a neighboring country and even more directly in my early years when I spent time with my aunt who has lived in Sao Paolo for the last 4 decades or so. I was named after her ex husband, hence the soft G in my first name. And consequently, the difficulty for Americans in getting my name right on their first try. But that’s neither here nor there. Who knows exactly why but I have an affinity for the language. So I was thankful this morning when Wayne Marshall, who I believe is now teaching at Berklee College of Music, shot out a quick link to one of his standout tracks for the year, Santtana’s Amor meu grande amor which ultimately led me to the recently published Partículas de Amor, a timely song & video that you can safely enjoy with your kids over hot cocoa on xmas morning.
