This new dick album (<00---- only click if you wanna see the nsfw cover art and official album title) they put out is far enough from my center that it holds barely a sliver of redeeming listening value. Not to say lots of people won’t like it, ’cause it’s in the same vein of their previous releases. The main reason I felt compelled to share some of their work before was because I enjoyed the vdos with the music. And this was at least partially due to my contrasting with the cheeziness of most rap videos. But I was very aware that decoupling the imagery would cause me to lose interest. This was confirmed when I tried listening to their LP and is now reaffirmed. Although I do think there are one or two cuts interesting enough that I wouldn’t mind seeing visualized I think the problem for me is that the music alone is just a bit boring. But again, to be clear, this has a lot to do with my personal history with upbeat music and verbose rap and my general skepticism. And before I go, what in the wide world of rap is Dj Shadow doing on a list of most legally downloaded bittorrents alongside these folks? I was a fan so if I’m missing a release, someone please put me on.
