The NYTimes blog, The Ledge, had a post yesterday about Pierre Sarkozy, the son of the President of France. According to certain reports, he is a producer who has worked with artists that are critical of his father, Nicolas Sarkozy. President Sarkozy is known for a mostly rhetorical campaign against Hip-Hop artists in France who were seen as vulgar and disaffected. When he was Minister of Interior he actually tried to take certain artists to court because of the content of their work. What does it mean when a President of a leading nation can’t seem to convince his own son of his beliefs? Does this put his influence into question or his beliefs?
