Wise Intelligent Applies To Open New Charter School in Trenton, New Jersey

Wise Intelligent has applied to the state of NJ to open a charter school that would serve Kindergarten through the Eighth Grade. Link

“Aside from providing students a more hands-on experience, we want to expose them to careers in fields such as journalism, entertainment and photography,” said Grimes, who also records and produces hip hop music.
“The youth will attend city meetings, understand how it works, and then interview the key players,” he said.
Eventually, the students would upload material to their own website and contribute to a print publication that goes along with the school’s core curriculum, he said.

Sh*t man. Thank goodness for Contemporary Rap music. This is the type of sh*t that keeps us going here. Big up to all the new culture participants that contribute to the community and keep it going. And nuff respect to the consistent artists that are able to, as Chuck D says in his dope new single, be themselves. So although Chuck D thanks us for allowing him to be himself over the years, the gratitude should really be coming from us. Peace to whoever flipped that wonderful sample from the Godfather movie for that new Immortal Technique and Temperamento track. It’s great to hear Technique rip it in spanish. Him and Skillionaire should do a track. And finally, Jeru gets a nice and filthy beat to spit over, courtesy of La Coka Nostra. Aphilliates Music Group Detained And Arrested

ATL SWAT Team raided the Aphilliates Music Group’s offices yesterday. 17 people detained along with “ring leaders” Dj Drama and Don Cannon. Police had warrants for arrest based on massive counterfeiting. I think this event will have significant ramifications for the already rocky and “under the table” relationship between major labels and mixtape djs. Because of Drama’s and Cannon’s legitimate ties to the industry though, I really hope they will have access to some high-powered attorneys that can force a balanced discussion between both sides of the argument. As you’ll see in the video (link below), even their cars were confiscated. It would be interesting to see how prosecutors prove the cars were bought with funds from illegal mixtapes instead of the mixtapes with only approved and owned content (like those willie/la cds which I assume were made in conjunction with the djs since both artists, I believe, are unsigned).

When’s the last time you heard Holocaust rappin’? He had some of my favorite verses on the Bobby Digital album and on the second Killarmy album. I thought he was gone for good but I guess not. The rumour is he’s working on a full length with producers Blue Sky Black Death aka Kingston and Young God. Haven’t got much background on these cats save for the album they dropped recently on Mush. Celebrating the release of his new album, Poor People’s Day, Bigg Jus is set to perform at the Knitting Factory on December 8th.
