Producing incredible beats is nothing new to hip-hop veteran Ayatollah. Although probably most known for his contribution to Mos Def’s “Ms. Fat Booty”, ‘Tollah has crafted classics for some of the best MCs to ever touch the microphone like Rakim, The Wu-Tang Clan, Talib Kweli, D-Block, Pharoahe Monch, and many more. Ayatollah has even been compared to (and probably has influenced) such heavyweight producers such as RZA, Just Blaze and Kanye West to name a few.

This fall, Ayatollah is set to drop yet another installment of 22 never before heard tracks laced by the legendary beat smith himself. While his vintage soulful sound is synonymous with classic golden era hip-hop, the music’s timeless quality stands strong against any of today’s biggest hits. Drum Machine, a musical ode to the tool of his trade, is a must for any producer, DJ, MC or hip-hop enthusiast. Here’s some info about the new Cormega album scheduled to drop in a few months. The lead single Fresh features a whole bunch of cats you probably heard of already: KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Grand Puba, Parrish Smith & Kool DJ Red Alert. Think that’s impressive? The producers who contributed beats include DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Havoc, Large Professor, Easy Mo Bee, Buckwild, Ayatollah and D.R. Period among others! Thanks for the look Ice. Link

The first single “Fresh” as some of ya’ll know features KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Grand Puba, Parish Smith of EPMD & DJ Red Alert and is crazier than I thought & one of the best off the album which includes a who’s who in legendary Hip Hop beat makers such as DJ Premier (in rare form), Pete Rock (produces the albums surprise song & best track, crazy), Havoc, Large Professor, Easy Moe B, Buckwild, Ayotollah, D R Period, Lil Fame, Nottz, Emil & others. With guest appearances by Tragedy, Havoc, Lil Fame, Marley Marl (who delivers the album intro) & more along with a possible remix ft. Baggs.

The album cover itself will definitely be a conversation piece and is in direct relation to the album title which by the way is no longer “The Inevitable” as other sites & Wikipedia have mentioned nor is it “The Streets Raised Me” which was previously confirmed to me on a past conversation with Mega. Unfortunately I can’t give the actual title for obvious reasons.

One thing that will be different about this album is the approach in it’s release to which I initially expressed my concern due to Who Am I? not receiving it’s just response. Coincidentally Mega agreed with me and had already mapped out a different marketing strategy & as he put it, “I want this album to be an event!” So we can expect to see a media blitz in the form of promoting this album from Mega making appearances on your favorite music video stations like BET, video shows & more radio stations, interviews with more online media outlets, to even an idea I gave him for an EPK (album documentary) that he thought was dope and will actually (hopefully) be doing along with other shit I suggested that may be pursued.

As far as videos, a Hip Hop legend who’s also a veteran in the tv industry in the form of video shows & directing music videos is being looked at to direct “Fresh”. I won’t mention his name just yet in case it doesn’t pan out since all that is in it’s early stages. However look for the Pete Rock produced and as yet titled track to be the second single with a video of it’s own as well. Business wise no longer will Mega’s projects (including this one) from his very own Legal Hustle Music Group be distributed by Koch as Mega is in talks with a major distributing company as we speak.

Wonderful instrumental from Ayatollah. That sample sounds mad familiar but I can’t place it. *Forgot to mention, this is a track from Ayatollah’s new instrumental record, titled Louder, out now on Nature Sounds Triboro Bridge Commission. Someone sent me this new track that was posted over at thick. We’re all glad Ra is still doing it and Nature Sounds gets props for standing behind this man.
