One of Snoop Dogg’s first acts as the creative chairman of Priority Records was the signing of Cypress Hill, a smart move considering the group’s place in the Hip-Hop history books as well as their tendency to sell out shows. Now, he’s releasing a series of albums dubbed U.S.D.A. (Uncut Snoop Dogg Approved). Included are Eazy-E’s Eazy-Duz-It, Master P’s Ghetto D and, interestingly enough, EPMD’s Strictly Business. Sounds dope if you ask me.
According to Snoop (as part of his Snoop Dogg Approved Uncut Series of classic re-releases) this marked one of the first times an East Coast group’s album was embraced by the West Coast most likely due to the heavy focus on using classic funk samples for a more upbeat feel.
